CARE WORKERS SET FOR PAY RISE

3rd March 2022

Primely Court, in Paignton, have increased its pay for carers and nurses as a thank you for their exceptional work during the pandemic.

Carers will now receive between £9.85 and £14.60 per hour, with trained nurses earning between £19.50 and £21.50 per hour.

The award-winning home now plans to undertake a mass recruitment drive, hiring across a range of roles with best-in-class training and opportunities to progress into senior management positions.

Michelle Lomax, who's worked at Primley Court for 8 years, said:

"I love what I do - I feel part of a family and work with a good team."

"I feel appreciated by the home after my promotion to Dementia carer and although additional pay will not change my life style, it's always feels good to have more money and feel valued in your role."

Optima Care Partnership, who runs Primley Court, recently introduced dementia lead roles to allow existing staff to gain further promotions and also enable highly skilled recruitment.

The partnership plans to continue its heavy investment in all their care homes over the coming years.

Oli Bliss, Managing Director at Optima Care Partnership, said:

“I am very happy that we are able to increase the staff wages to this level, they thoroughly deserve it, it has been a difficult couple of years.

"This will now enable us to recruit more staff into our experienced team”
